Hi, We’re the Adventure Family!
Welcome to our corner of the internet! I’m thrilled you’ve found us. We’re a family of four who believes that life is meant to be lived as one big adventure, and we’re here to share everything we’ve learned about making family travel affordable, educational, and absolutely unforgettable.
Our Story: From Stationary to Nomadic
Our journey began like many families – settled in one place, following the traditional path. But in 2021, everything changed. My wife Tabitha, a dedicated NICU nurse, and I made the bold decision to transform our lives completely. We sold our house, bought a fifth wheel camper, and embarked on what would become the adventure of a lifetime.
Since 2021, we’ve traveled most of the United States while living in our fifth wheel camper, creating memories and learning experiences that no classroom could ever provide. But our wanderlust didn’t stop at the US borders. We’ve made it a tradition to travel abroad at least a couple times a year, and so far, we’ve explored 38 countries and counting – with no plans to slow down anytime soon.
Meet Our Crew
Tabitha – The heart of our operation and an incredible NICU nurse who initially supported our nomadic lifestyle through traveling nursing assignments. She would take 13-week assignments across the country, allowing us to explore new states and regions while she worked. As our digital nomad life has expanded and evolved, Tabitha has gained the flexibility to choose when she works, now taking assignments only 1-2 times per year when the opportunity feels right. This gives us more freedom to travel abroad and pursue the adventures our family loves.
Noah (5 years old) – Our youngest adventurer who approaches every new experience with boundless enthusiasm. Whether he’s searching for sea glass on a remote beach in Greece or learning to kayak in the calm waters of a Mexican cenote, Noah reminds us daily that the world is full of wonder when you see it through a child’s eyes.
Asher (7 years old) – Our older son who has become quite the little explorer and travel planner. Asher loves researching our next destinations, learning about different cultures, and has developed an impressive ability to spot the best snorkeling spots from a mile away. His curiosity about the world drives many of our educational adventures.
Nathan – The planner, researcher, and storyteller of the family. I handle the logistics of our travels, research the best deals and strategies for budget-friendly family adventures, and document our experiences to share with families like yours who dream of exploring the world without breaking the bank.
Our Adventure Philosophy
We believe that adventure doesn’t have to be expensive or extreme to be meaningful. Some of our most treasured memories have come from simple moments: searching for sea glass along beaches in Portugal, swimming in hidden caves in Mexico, or watching our boys learn to snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of Thailand.
Our family loves adventures including:
•Hiking through national parks and mountain trails around the world
•Zip lining through rainforest canopies (the boys are fearless!)
•Sight-seeing and immersing ourselves in local cultures and history
•Searching for sea glass along beaches – it’s become our family treasure hunt tradition
•Snorkeling and shallow diving in some of the world’s most beautiful waters
•And many more awesome adventures that we discover along the way
•Kayaking through mangroves, lakes, and coastal areas
•White water rafting (age-appropriate adventures for the boys)
•Swimming in caves and cenotes – some of our most magical experiences
•And many more awesome adventures that we discover along the way
Our Educational Journey: Montessori on the Road
The Montessori method emphasizes hands-on learning, independence, and following the child’s natural curiosity – principles that work beautifully when the entire world becomes your classroom. Noah and Asher learn geography by actually visiting the places they study, practice foreign languages with native speakers, and develop cultural awareness through real-world experiences that no textbook could provide.
Their education happens everywhere: calculating distances and budgets during trip planning, learning about marine biology while snorkeling, understanding history by walking through ancient ruins, and developing problem-solving skills by navigating new cities and cultures. Every day brings new learning opportunities, and we’ve found that this approach has made them more confident, adaptable, and curious learners.
Our Travel Evolution: From RV to International Adventures
Our travel style has evolved significantly since we started this journey. During Tabitha’s nursing assignments, we explore local places and states while living comfortably in our fifth wheel camper. This has allowed us to discover hidden gems across America – from the stunning coastlines of Oregon to the red rocks of Utah, from the historic charm of New England to the vibrant culture of the Southwest.
When Tabitha isn’t on assignment, we have more flexibility to travel abroad or take extended RV trips to new regions. Our international travels have taught us invaluable lessons about different accommodation types, transportation options, and budget strategies that work for families.
We’ve tried everything when it comes to travel accommodations:
•Budget airlines and how to make them work with kids
•Vacation rentals that provide the space families need
•Hotels when convenience is key
•Hostels (yes, even with kids – we’ll share how!)
•Camping and glamping experiences around the world
•House sitting opportunities that save money and provide unique experiences
Why We Share Our Story
After visiting 38 countries (and counting!) and traveling across the United States extensively, we’ve learned that family travel doesn’t have to be a luxury reserved for the wealthy. With the right strategies, planning, and mindset, any family can create incredible adventures and memories together.
We’ve made every mistake in the book – from booking the wrong flights to choosing accommodations that weren’t family-friendly, from overpacking to under-planning. But each mistake taught us something valuable, and now we want to share those lessons with you.
Our mission is simple: to show other families that adventure is accessible, that travel can be educational and affordable, and that the memories you create exploring the world together are worth more than any material possession you could buy.
